Import Customer or Mailing RecordsPublishers that purchase direct-mail lists may wish to import these into Cat’s as new customer or mailing list records. If the lists are obtained as CSV (comma-separated variable-length) record files, the optional program to Import Customer or Mailing Records may offer significant benefit. It offers an option to scan the input file for errors and creates an exception report that notes conditions such as duplicate records, input fields that are too long, invalid characters, and missing customer or address information. In scan mode, an exception report is created, but records are not imported. The input file can then be edited, cleaned up, and imported into Cat’s. The operator selects customer type, discount group, and source code. Terms and shipping methods are assigned according to default logic for new Cat’s customers or mailing records.
