Import Title Information into The Cat's PajamasMany publishers maintain new title information in databases external to Cat’s. No one likes to enter the same data multiple times, so many publishers have requested programming to import new title information or to update information for existing titles in the Cat’s Pajamas database. Each publisher has different requirements for their book information, so programs to import book information are custom. A programming planner is provided on request to collect details: the layout of the import file, fields to be updated, whether only new titles are added or whether existing titles are updated; whether any codes not in the input file are assigned automatically, and the like. Some publishers have one program to import new titles and a second program to update certain fields – such as price fields – for existing titles.
