ODBC Database Dictionary

ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) is a translation system that provides access to data stored in Cat's Pajamas data files by report generators, spreadsheet, database, or other applications. That means that you have access to the LIVE data. No more copying the files or waiting until everybody else is out of the data files before a third-party program can access them.

The Cat's Pajamas is written in the DB/C programming language, which has a specific ODBC driver named DB/C FS. DB/C FS is purchased separately from DB/C Software Company. For more information, visit their web site.

Purchase a copy of an ODBC-compliant Database Dictionary from The Cat's Pajamas. The Database Dictionary includes file layout definitions and significant documentation about which data is stored in what Cat’s Pajamas files and fields, and how the files are related.

Use DB/C FS and the Data Dictionary to access Cat's Pajamas data through third party applications such as:

• Crystal Reports

• Microsoft Access

• Microsoft Excel

• Monarch Pro 

• FileMaker Pro

• Other ODBC-compliant applications

Use this capacity to:

• Export data from Cat's to another database

• Make Cat's data available on your website

• Interface Cat’s with your contact management system

• Create your own custom reports

ODBC requirements

• Windows 95 or higher workstations

•  An NT or Windows 2000 network.

• Cat's Pajamas Windows-executable Release 3.1 or Cat's Pajamas Release 4.1.

• DB/C FS (from the DB/C Software Company)

• TCP/IP communication protocol

• The Cat's Pajamas ODBC Data Dictionary file (available with documentation from The Cat's Pajamas

• A third-party ODBC-compliant application (see the list above for examples)

This option is available only for Releases 4.1 and 3.1W (that's the windows version of Release 3.1) of The Cat's Pajamas.
