EDI At-will Billing (810)Certain bookstore chains and wholesalers may require the publisher to submit invoices for billing in EDI 810 X12 files. The Cat’s EDI At-Will Billing module addresses this need. The operator selects a trading partner for billing and a range of shipping transactions. (The module defaults to the first shipping transaction for the trading partner that has not been billed already.) The module reads the Cat’s customer file for bill-to customers with that trading partner code. Then it reads the shipping transaction file for invoices within the specified shipping transaction range and creates a billing file with those invoices. After the file is translated, it is ready to be sent to the trading partner. (Most of our publishers use software obtained from Unitech EDI to translate and send the Cat’s output file into the 810 X12 file required by the reseller.) Many Cat’s publishers have implemented EDI 810 invoicing interfaces with Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com, Baker & Taylor, Borders, and Ingram.
