Managing Inventory

Publishers face a number of unique inventory management problems. Tracking hundreds (or thousands) of fragile products through the cycle of receipt, stocking, moving, picking, and returning can turn what should be a simple process into a nightmare. Our system combines ease of use with tight control and a complete audit trail.

Automatic Inventory Adjustment

The Cat's Pajamas immediately updates all data associated with an order, so you can analyze the status of any title at any time.

  • Returns automatically update inventory, whether books are to be returned to stock or come back damaged.

  • A physical inventory program simplifies counting, reconciliation, and updating of stock quantities.

  • Every stock movement is tracked and stored in a transaction audit file: every shipment, every return, every consignment, every manual entry, every physical inventory adjustment, for the lifetime of the title.

  • View these adjustments at any time, for selected books or for all books, for any range of dates. Print for a title, some titles, or all titles, for any range of dates and any type of transaction.

Multiple Warehouses and Locations

  • Maintain separate inventory in up to five warehouses. Optionally, we can add up to four additional warehouses.

  • Within the main warehouse, maintain up to four bin locations, as well as a "returns" location. Another option lets you create unlimited locations within the primary warehouse to reflect actual quantities found in each bin or rack.

  •  Viewing/reporting options help you track books more efficiently.

Comprehensive Reporting On Demand

  • View/print/export information on low stock, excess stock, or inactive products. Inventory valuation, reorder/restock, or other reports whenever you need them.

  • Selectively exclude "hurt book" inventory from valuation reporting.

Consignment Tracking

  • Track consignments to and from any number of locations.

  • Viewing/ reporting of shipments to consignees and of inventory levels for each title.
