Processing Orders
Our fast, streamlined order entry program is well suited for taking phone
orders. There are options for electronic ordering, uploading from the
Internet, and more.
The core functions are order processing, invoicing, and shipping. One of
the principal benefits of the system is the efficiency it brings to these
operations.
Order Entry
Entering an order is quick and easy. The system automatically calculates
discounts, special pricing, sales tax, shipping methods, and freight charges.
Any of these automatic functions may be manually overridden.
Phone orders can be a sales opportunity. Your staff needs access to details
about the customer placing an order, including account and product purchasing
history. They also need to look up information about products to make
recommendations and answer questions. Cat's provides all this.
Program features:

Display detailed customer information while taking an order, including
account status, backorders, past order details, title order history, etc.
Customer "memo pads" allow easy access to free-form information about the
customer.

Update the customer's record immediately with new information such as a
change of zip code, contact person, etc.

Use codes to track the type of order, e.g., codes for internet, phone,
fax, email, etc.

Use codes to track the source of the order, e.g., codes for "BEA sales"
or "spring catalog", etc.

Alerts you to out-of-stock titles

Alerts you to duplicate purchase orders and existing backorders for a
title.

Checks for fillable backorders that can now be added to the current
order.

Custom messages alert you to specific conditions for customers or books
(such as "no backorders, please" for a customer or "no foreign rights" for a
title).

Custom messages suggest substitutions for revised or re-announced books.

Locate customer records instantly by any part of the name, zip, phone
number, contact, SAN, or an external ID number.

Locate titles instantly by any part of the title, author, ISBN, subject,
or an external product ID.

Display pop-up windows to advise about product availability, display
catalogue copy or other title information, recap a customer's past orders,
and much more.

Link similar titles -- a pop-up box alerts you to other titles that
might interest the customer. Remind a customer when it might be time to
restock a title.

Book "memo pads" can display abstracts of title contents, suggested
audience, and any other information for use during order entry.

Add unlimited comment lines to the invoice. Create automatic lines for
frequently used comments.
Lunch time? Set aside a partially entered order and finish it later.
Editing an order
Add/change/delete line items on an invoice. Changes can be made up to the
time of shipping. Add/change codes, shipping and handling, terms, P.O.
numbers, etc.
Invoicing and Warehouse workflow
The Cat's Pajamas streamlines your warehouse workflow.

You decide when and how often to print or send documents to the warehouse.

Print a "pick list" for each batch of invoices. It's a summary of all the
books in the batch—it can save time and energy at the warehouse.

Sequence and/or select orders for printing by more than a dozen criteria,
including shipping method, zip ranges, size of orders, orders with specific
books, etc.
Shipping
Optional electronic transfer of data to and/or from your shipping manifest

Expanded Consignment Capabilities
Do you consign inventory for outside distribution? Do you have such a
relationship with more than one consignee? Do you want to know exactly what
inventory is with each consignee? If so, this module is for you. The Expanded
Consignment Module tracks the inventory in a consignment warehouse for each
separate ship-to consignee. Consigned inventory can be viewed or printed.
