Hardware and Environment

Current releases of Cat's Pajamas run as 32-bit Windows applications on Novell Netware or Windows networks. Cat's is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, and Vista workstations. Current Cat's systems can run stand-alone on Windows 2000, XP professional, 2003, and Vista business computers.

Summary of Requirements

  • Workstations designed for business applications with Windows 2000, XP professional, or Vista business operating systems.

  • Two megabytes (minimum) of extended memory for each concurrent Cat’s Pajamas session.  Because processing occurs in the memory of the workstation, a generous amount of memory is beneficial.

  • Ethernet 10-Base T or 100-Base T cabling.

  • High performance file server designed for server duty (such as HP, DELL, or Compaq) with a minimum 2 gigabyte disk dedicated to The Cat's Pajamas. We highly recommend ECC memory.

  •  Novell 5.x or 6.x NetWare, or Windows 2000, 2003, 2008 networks.

  • Printer: for multipart forms (invoices, statements): wide-carriage impact printer. For reports: laser printers.

  • Host/Remote communication software such as pcAnywhere.

  • Host/Remote communication access such as a tcpip connection over the Internet or high-speed telephone connection via modem.

  • High-performance, reliable backup system. Daily backup is a system requirement. Many of our publishers use HP 4mm DAT backups. Ask your vendor for recommendations.
