Training and DocumentationTrainingBefore you go live with a Cat's Pajamas system, someone from your company will come to The Cat's Pajamas offices in Burlington, Washington, for an intensive three-day training. These trainings are hands-on learning, focusing on all aspects of order processing, accounts receivable, and system management. Optionally, we can address other issues, such as consignment tracking or royalty processing. Just ask. Participants use our PLAY system. The PLAY system will be installed on your network and can be used to train current and future staff. One of the nicest benefits of training at The Cat's Pajamas is the chance for our staff and yours to develop a good working relationship. Lunch is provided for trainees, and the lunchtime conversations with the staff can be as productive as the time spent in our training room. We offer a variety of advanced trainings. Some are for skilled users who want to understand their system in greater depth, with a goal of using their Cat's data for a wide variety of purposes: exporting data for use by other software, sophisticated targeted marketing, report generation, links to their web sites, remote access by sales reps, and more. Some are marketing and sales people, who want to focus on the options for viewing, reporting, and targeted marketing. Some are system managers, who want to learn more about keeping their systems safe and efficient or who want to keep up with the pace as their business grows. Included with your system is a one-hour telephone overview. You turn on the speaker phone near a workstation with a modem, assemble interested staff members, and a CPJ trainer dials in and does an overview of what's there and what it's for, with time for questions and answers. We also offer telephone trainings on the topic(s) of your choice. Usually, we dial into a workstation on your network and pass control of the keyboard back and forth as the topic develops. For instance, royalty processing at many publishers takes place only once or twice a year, and often the person handling the royalties has very little daily interaction with the Cat's system. This is an ideal situation for an occasional bit of phone training. You might want a trainer from Cat's to come to you. We can arrange it. This has some advantages: we can train as many people as you care to have trained, and you eliminate traveling costs for several people. Occasionally a key person on your staff is simply unable to travel. It also has disadvantages, a major one being that it can be hard to concentrate on learning a new skill when you are constantly interrupted by phone calls and things that will "take just a minute". System DocumentationWithin The Cat's Pajamas programs, context-sensitive help screens offer lists of options and reminders. View samples of report formats from the reporting programs. Release 4.1 users have Documentation accessible thru a separate icon. If you do not have this icon on your desktop, please contact your IT department or the Cat's Pajamas. The "For Cat's Users" section of this web site has a documents section, where we post documents of current interest—documentation of some new programs, protocols for setting up new network equipment, checklists for cleaning up directories, how-to's on a variety of topics, and more.
